KITV covers Discover Kauai on youtube
BackA July 15, 2007 television news piece on the success of a youtube video called "Discover Kauai." The short film sparked local controversy on the Hawaiian island of Kauai by speaking what is unspeakable in a society dependent on the tourism dollar: that there are serious flaws in this island paradise, most notably runaway development. Paving over Paradise is, in fact, BAD for not only for tourism, but for everyone who lives on Kauai -- for Native Hawaiians, for long-time residents, and for recent transplants from North America and beyond.
